Howdy everybody, we hope all is well and everybody is having a great diving day.  So what's been happening so far this year you ask?  A lot.  It's still spring and we have already had some great open water trips where we learned such thing as; yes, the zipper really does go in the back, you can open your mouth underwater without water rushing in, a 60 mph wind in Santa Rosa makes for a challenging time, and most importantly, don't sniff the bubbles (don't ask - oh - OK go ahead).  And who ever thought that a little gas station three miles from town had such a great beer selection, awesome.  Nothing but great training, great dives, and great fun was had by all.  Coming up later this month, we have another open water trip to Balmorhea and in April there's an OW and a Rescue class scheduled.  We hope you can join us on future trips and join in on the fun.

Please join me in welcoming two new additions to our team, Instructors Cassie and Tatt.  Both are great individuals that I know you'll really enjoy having them as an instructor.  WELCOME ABOARD (now get to work and start teaching some classes)!!!!

If you haven't seen it yet, you need to come by the shop and check out the new Twilight series from Aqua Lung.  All I can say is WOW!!!  Aqua Lung went to great lengths to develop a line of equipment sized and designed specifically for a women.  It looks great, and from those that have tried it, it feels great.

Thanks for your support in the past and we hope we can continue to serve all of your diving needs in the future.  From the Dona Ana Divers team - have a great diving day.

Subject :Whats the difference between learning to dive from a Dive Center vs. an Independent Instructor?

As a professional dive instructor there is no difference in the class or certification between a Dive Center or an Independent Instructor. The main difference is the relationship that the Dive Center has with the certifying agencies’ and the retail market. A Dive Center is a more complete relationship where you can try on many types of new gear, buy new gear and have it serviced. Only an authorized dealer can service your gear and maintain its warranty. For the most part a Dive Center gets a higher price break on purchasing gear due to annual sales. Therefore, they should be able to pass on cheaper prices to the consumer. A lot of independent instructors have a dive center they are affiliated with and they may send you there to buy your gear. But with all that being said, it is up to the consumer to do their research on the dive center or independent instructor, as we do with any other business we are looking to spend our hard earned money with.
